The Ahl
The Ahl near the Eifel village of St. Johannes. The basalt lava here was born over 4000,000 years ago out of the Hochsimmer volcano eruption, as a powerful lava stream buried the original Nette valley beneath it. In this up to 40 meter thick lava stream there are bizarre stone formations, giant columns and also small delicate structures.
